Gym Floor

A GYM FLOOR is an addition to the leather floor you have chosen. Whether it is a leather floor for a fitness room or a floor covered with leather but for which you want extra cushioning. It is all possible. The difference with a regular installation of a leather floor is that with the gym floor there is an extra layer between the leather and the construction floor. This intermediate layer consists of recycled rubber, cast in a tile shape that maximally reduces contact noise. The tiles are provided with a particularly inventive relief on the underside, which not only absorbs sound but also prevents sound and vibrations from spreading. The tiles can be connected almost seamlessly in a very simple way.

The top layer can be covered with leather from our TUNDRA or BOXER collection.

A gym floor lets you enjoy yourself at a higher level!

The solution for unwanted contact noise via the floor!

One of the most common complaints about floors is the unwanted transmission of contact noise. What do we mean by that? You will probably recognize it, the sound as if someone is walking on your ceiling. Or the unwanted enjoyment of activities that produce a lot of noise, such as can happen in a fitness facility or gym, for example. A floor finish that is directly attached to the structural screed without an intermediate floor is often the cause of this. In order to reduce this disturbing and unwanted contact noise and still enjoy an eye-catching floor finished with leather, we have developed the GYM FLOOR: the ideal solution for maximum noise reduction without compromising on appearance.

Can a GYM FLOOR be installed on underfloor heating?

A leather floor on a gym floor tile can certainly be combined with underfloor heating. There are factors that need to be taken into account. For example, the thermal resistance determines how much heat is transferred. For the technical data for this, we recommend that you contact us.

Another advantage is that the tiles provide protection to the existing subfloor or screed.

These tiles can even be laid on existing floor coverings and are very easy to install using the unique connector system. In addition to convenience, the use of connectors also has aesthetic and hygienic advantages, because it creates almost invisible joints and does not require gluing. A connector is a connecting element that is placed at intervals of 20 centimeters. A kind of click system to connect the tiles to each other and that ensures that the tiles remain in place. The space that is created on the underside further promotes the insulation of contact sounds.

What requirements does a GYM FLOOR meet?

For the use of the GYM FLOOR in sports areas, the floor must meet a number of strict requirements. The movement of the floor under local heavy loads such as jumping and running, for example [Vertical deformation] but also the stability of the floor when it comes to placing gym equipment. The floors have been tested for this and approved. The safety is expressed in HIC [Head Injury Criteria]. The lower this score, the safer the floor.

Which leather is suitable?

Not every type of leather is suitable for use on the floor. And that also applies to the top layer on the gym floor. The leather that we use meets various requirements. We have a choice of 2 types that we carry under the name Tundra and Boxer. They are available in various colours. Of course, the way of laying is also a variable. The tiles can be laid in various patterns. The size of the rubber base tile does not necessarily determine the tile sizes of the top layer of leather.
